Wow! It has been awhile! Life has just gotten a hold of me and I haven’t had the time/energy/brain power to sit and write. Just going to bullet point some major things that happened since I last wrote.
- Work is going great! I love working with my friend and having another music teacher in the building with me. My administration is great and my coworkers are nice. I’m having very few issues with the students and trying lots of new games and activities. We’re really getting along great! The winter concerts went very well too, so no complaints so far!
- In November, I totaled my new car. I was taking a left off of my street, like I do every morning. I saw the van coming, but thought I had enough time to go (they were far down at the light). The van was speeding and hit me on the driver side as I pulled forward. Thankfully, I walked away. Went to the ER later that day and everything was fine. We got a new car in December and have been finalizing the paperwork and everything for the claim with the insurance.
- Freddie turned 1! We had his birthday at Gymboree with his favorite teacher. I did make a mistake and wrote down the wrong day on the calendar…invited all my guests on Saturday instead of Sunday. Luckily, they know me and did the party anyway without any issue. He’s saying a bunch of words now, running around like crazy, loves books and car toys, and is becoming his own little person. It’s been fun being his mommy.
- Dann is still not talking to his parents. There’s no end in sight with this fight. His mom texted him the family missed him so much and he responded he didn’t have time for this fight again. No idea if/when he will resolve it. He really doesn’t want to. His family is kind of controlling in certain things and he’s had enough. sigh
- During parent teacher conferences, I was taking some Velcro off my wall (it was falling off because the paint in my room is literally peeling off on its own) and as I stepped down off he chair, I dislocated my right knee. Luckily, the special education teacher I work with a lot was in my room, called the office and everyone came rushing to my room. My principal, assistant principals, secretaries…everyone! They called the ambulance and my husband. I went to the hospital (after being dragged backwards down the hallway in a wheel chair that only had back wheels in front of my students and their parents…so embarrassing!) and the doctor said everything looked ok. Going to the orthopedic Wednesday for a follow up checkup. I’ve been staying off it as much as possible, but overdid it the last couple days and my knee was a little swollen.
- I also went back to the ENT and they said I did have a nodule, not a pollup. They gave me some medicine to see if they could shrink it. I’ve been singing, speaking and breathing easier since I took the medicine. Going to the ENT on Thursday to have a test with the speech pathologist.
- I also went to the dermatologist, as my patch of psoriasis had gotten much worse and spread to my elbows, knees and my inner thighs. Turns out, I had eczema! He gave me a cream and it disappeared in a week.
- I also made Dann go to the doctor when he insisted I go see a doctor about the small lump in my back. He said it was just a small farting tissue deposit and nothing to worry about. Dan had a bunch of blood work and stuff done. He has a very low vitamin D count, so he was given a prescription for vitamin D.
- I marched for public education here in NYC about 2 weeks ago. It was cold, but worth it! Thought more people would have been there, but I think the cold turned people away. With this whole political climate, I’ve been getting more involved. I have to. I can’t sit silently and watch our country go to ruins. Hopefully with all these cuts to education and the arts, I’ll still have a job in the next 4 years.
- Dann and I are embarking on a new journey in our relationship. He let me know that things were getting a bit stale and they are. Not any really fault of either of us…just the life of being parents and working people, ya know? Also, still dealing with all my stuff…so I found a book that has activities to do together for 31 days to help work on your relationship and work through issues tied to sex. We’re going to start tonight…I’m excited and nervous. It should strengthen us more than we are now and hopefully help me overcome this roadblock that keeps popping up.
I think that’s about it for now. I’ll have to catch up on your entires later and try to write more for me! I’ve missed it and need to get some things out of my head that I don’t get to on the regular. Later!
