Last Friday was the final weigh in for the weight loss challenge group I’m in. It started July 1st and went for 8 weeks. I started at 211 pounds and finished at 189.8 pounds for a loss of 21.2 pounds which I’m super happy with! The winner of the challenge is from the highest percentage of weight lost and I know for sure I won but the lady in charge has 5 kids under the age of 10 so she’s busy and hasn’t announced the winner yet. I think there’s 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and the 1st place winner gets 60% of the winnings. There’s 10 of us so that’s $60. It’s not a fortune but every little bit helps. And of course I’m continuing to lose weight and have about 20-25 pounds to go!
I have been focusing on trying to earn extra money and saving the money we do have lately since I don’t make a ton these days on maternity leave and want to save so I can stay off work longer with Summer. Last week I was able to sell some of my Jamberry inventory for $100. I still have a ton of Jamberry besides my own personal stash and they’re worth a lot ($17 per full sheet). I still love the wraps and wear them all the time but I’m too busy to be a consultant right now and after 2 years of selling I have run out of people to sell them to. I did enjoy it though and made a fair amount of money. I have a friend who joined through me who is still selling them and she said she’d give me a discount if I ever bought off of her, which I’m sure I will. I might get my husband to get me a couple for my birthday in a couple of months since the new catalogue is out tomorrow.
So yeah....trying to save/make money. I also sold Cody’s car bed since we have the bunk beds now and used the money we got back from the IKEA dressers to pay for used dressers I found. I found one on kijiji and one at a consignment store and they’re awesome. One fits Summers clothes and even has a spot for a change pad and the other is a big dresser which fits Cody’s clothes on one side and Miles’ on the other and has a big mirror on the top of it. And I found Cody his first bike with training wheels for $15. Although getting him to make it work is proving difficult lol. He just doesn’t get the pedal thing. He mostly takes it for walks so far haha. We’re working on it. And this week I put some Jamberry for sale on ebay which I’m allowed to do since I’m not a consultant any more. They’re on a week long auction and it’s fun to check it every once in a while and see how much money I will get (I posted them less than 24 hours ago and I’m already for sure getting $93. Hopefully that number goes up to at least a couple hundred). Also, I felt like I found money in my purse when I found a receipt I had for contact lenses from back in February I need to submit to the insurance company. It was for $88 and I will get 80% of that back.
Did I mention I took the kids to the dentist last week? I had to take all 3 of them because my parents were away. Miles had his first appointment ever and I had to hold him down while the dentist quickly checked his teeth and painted flouride on his teeth. Cody had a checkup and has 4 cavities. Fun! Thank goodness we have 80% dental coverage. The bill is going to be somewhere around $1600 so we will still have to pay around $320 of that. It’s so fun in life how things are constantly popping up that we have to pay for! Maybe one of our cars will die next. Yay! lol
