Anarchist Philosophy

      Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, The first political philosopher to call himself an anarchist, marking the formal birth of anarchism in the mid-nineteenth century.  However, anarchist themes can be found in the 6th century BC, among the works of Taoist philosopher Laozi.

Anarchy is a confusing word, At first glance, it connotes the idea of disorder, individualism, violence. But these ideas do not reflect the principles of the anarchist movement, originally a component of the labor movement, If the word “anarchy” means chaos, anarchism is a political theory. The difficulty is that anarchism as a theory is not a unified doctrine and that there is a wide variety of anarchist thinkers (Proudhon, Bakunin, Kropotkin, Roxa Luxembourg, Max Stirner…) or events, political movements, which in history are directly or indirectly related to anarchism.

If classical political philosophy attempts to justify the organization of political authority and power, the principle of anarchism is to say that no justification of this power is possible. A free, decent, human, can not accept coercive institutions and individuals who submit cancel their autonomy, Obedience to the State, the acceptance of institutions and government, is synonymous with humiliation and alienation. Anarchism is a theory based on the negation of the principle of political authority, to build a society without domination, in which individuals freely co-operate in a dynamic self-management. This is why “freedom is conceived as the rejection of all authority, including that of the state. Wherever there are state institutions there are also dominant and the dominated, the oligarchy at the head of the system that mimics the mechanisms of domination and interference with individual autonomy. The slogan of the anarchists is then “neither God nor master”.

Anarchist thought is a thought that wants to end all forms of authoritarianism being built on a pessimistic view of man, if a person needs to be dominated, ruled, it is because they are selfish and unable to raise themselves in search of a common ideal. To all anarchists, though, anarchy is the best refuge from political dogma and authority. Moreover, many anarchists agree that anarchism begins with the notion that people are inherently good, or even perfect, and that external authority—laws, governments, institutions, and so forth—limits human potential. External authority, they suggest, brings a corruption of the innocent human spirit and a ceiling on achievement.
