Eldorado
“The painted ladies of the Avalon
Play in the sun,
Take to the road,
To the North there lies the chills of cold,
To the South there lies the tales untold.
But in between there lies
The place to close your eyes.”
There has been an onshore breeze all day, which makes the air smell like the beach.
While we haven’t any rain of note all summer, everything here stays green because of the moisture that comes in on the breeze. Every morning everything is dripping with dew.
Looks like things are going to take a change here shortly. A couple of hurricanes, or rather potential hurricanes rolling around out there. According to the news the waves are pretty stellar in the outer banks of North Carolina. According to the tide charts tomorrow will be a 9.6 (pretty high) at around 1pm. The weather will be nice until late in the day. Sounds like a beach day. Gotta go pull my board out of the attic. I still don’t have a wetsuit since the catastrophic failure of the last one, but the ocean temps are still in the mid 60s. I’ll be fine.
Every night I do the routine of laying on my back and thinking about what I need to do next. Inevitably my mind goes to how do I reduce my bills in order to save more money to start flying again. Which inevitably takes me to “get a job.” It also goes to “get rid of the stupid phone, (80 bucks a month for a device I don’t really use), clamp down on the cable (which which I pretty much wouldn’t be able to use if I had a job), drop the comprehensive on the car. Dumb idea. et cetera et cetera.”
Maybe a few hours in the surf will give me some clarity.
“And I will stay, I’ll not be back, Eldorado.
I will be free of the world, Eldorado.”

I think get a job : even if it's not exactly what you want , you can be saving while you keep looking for a better one and therefore you can start flying more quickly . Just a thought .
