The pain will fade
and I’ll be free
But certain things will still matter
only to me.
I’ll never make a difference,
and that’s a fact.
Never an impact, a lasting glance,
or even a single, memorable act.
I’ll break free of my binds,
as we all do.
One way or another,
I’ll have a life of my own.
But one thing remains,
and one thing only.
I’ll never matter,
and that’s just fine.
