Name: JD

Age: 47

Status: Divorced twice; two kids

Works: In IT at a hospital

Lives: Not far from me

Length of Date: 45 minutes

He Looked: Exactly like his photos. Tall, urban, well dressed also but zipper down. Oops!

I Looked: Cute in my last-days-of-summer shorts and sandals with my hair straightened.

What We Did: Met for coffee at a fancy-pants raw, vegan, organic coffee shop near me.

First Impression: My first impression was over the phone. This guy has an incredible voice.

High Point: When he turned out to be as cute and as smart as he appeared to be via all my research after he Facebook-friended me. He is really well educated and knows how to talk WITH a person and not TO a person. Our conversation was a wonderful exchange of stories and ideas and not a soliloquy entitled “All About Me.”

Low Point: One might say when he was late by a half hour. He did, however text me 15 minutes before we were supposed to meet to say he was running late. And then again 15 minutes later to say he was stuck in traffic. So a date that was supposed to start at 5:30 started at 6 pm. However, because he was communicative and bought the coffee when he did get there, that was not the low point. The low point was, when, at 6:40 he suddenly said, “Well, I have to go.”

How It Ended: With an explanation that he had to meet a friend at 7 and that he’d love to see me again. He called me interesting and we agreed to go to the storytelling show together on Wednesday night.

Chances I Will See Him Again: See above, if he doesn’t flake.

Red Flag: After 8 years sober he is experimenting with drinking again. This needs to be watched.

I can't wait to meet him!! Our friend Susan is coming tonight as well, so I won't be so third wheel-ish. I haven't yet asked The Tree, but I SO want to!
