Summertime in General

I slept late today. An oddity for me as I am naturally awake no later than 7am. I am glad I got the trash to the curb last night because I would have missed the pickup and would have been stuck with shrimp shells in the trash for a week.

The sun was behind the clouds all day. I would have gone to the beach. High tide is around noon this week. The humidity was down, but so was the temp. So probably tomorrow or Thursday.

Instead I puttered around, recycled some computer crap at Staples. Then puttered with the lawn mower. I am tempted to just load it in the trunk and take to the repair place over on Stanwood Ave. If I start tearing into the thing I am likely to break something, and Chinese designed and built pieces of shit are designed to break. You know. So you have to go buy another one.

Job search is still sucking wind. I found a job with a defense contractor that I would likely be qualified for. Still sucking air between my teeth on the decision of whether or not to apply.

It deals with classified information. At the end of my Navy career I was the security manager in a large office. 50 safes. At least 30 people had the combinations. On every inventory I held my breath hoping this inventory wouldn’t be the one that put me in the brig. Do you have any idea how many documents 50 4 drawer safes hold?

Unless you are a Clinton, missing classified means an investigation, then go to the brig to await your court martial which then sends you to Fort Leavenworth.

You can see my reluctance to apply.

But I might anyway. Just to see if I get an interview. As dad always says, “Just because they offer a job doesn’t mean you have to accept it.” Dad has been a civilian a lot longer than I have.

I continue with my image infatuation with a little girl upstate. I might have to actually finish my profile. Maybe get Glenn to take a portrait.

There is something magnetic about a girl who is so clear in what she wants. Now. Is she what I want? Critical question.
