Thou shalt care for the planet on which you live.

This one is not in quotes because it is not based on a direct statement from the Dune series. Nevertheless, themes of ecological balance and conservation run throughout. This can be most clearly seen in Liet-Kynes, the Planetologist of Arrakis, and his dream to protect the creatures of Dune while also desiring to terraform the barren planet into a paradise of flora and fauna. The theme runs mostly through the first few original books but plays a part throughout.
