Me in 36 Pieces in Adventures From Prison

Me in 36 pieces So it’s a new year. (Hooray?) I’m not really feeling any more optimistic about the next 12 months than I did this time last year…or the year before that. Of course the fact that the next 9 years are pretty solidly mapped out might have something to do with my lackluster attitude. The one thing I do hope for however is a wealth of new readers and friends. According to my Mom, my diary is now mirrored (at least partially) at Prosebox and Writing.com, but any details will have to come from her. A good number of people also indicated that I don’t allow private notes…likely because Mom doesn’t know how to set that feature up, so if someone wants to tell her how, I’d appreciate it. Obviously, I’m in the dark on all this stuff. Anyway, I thought that one of the best ways to start the year off was to share some facts about myself, this way everyone can be on the same page. So here is a list.

1. I’m 36 years old
2. I’m a Sagittarius
3. I still don’t understand why people care about that.
4. I also don’t get how people drink wheat-grass juice.
5. When I worked at Caribou Coffee people would often ask if we carried it, then look at me strangely when I laughed.
6. I’ve served several members of the band Fall-Out Boys coffee.
7. The lead singer’s ex-girlfriend was my dog’s Vet-Tech.
8. She was sweet and gorgeous; I served her coffee too.
9. I often wonder if some of their songs were written about her.
10. I write constantly.
11. I’ve never tried to find an agent or get published but hope to change that soon.
12. At 20, I wrote a play, started a theater company, directed and put it on at a small, local theater.
13. I often look back and wonder what the Hell I was thinking.
14. Then I wonder if I can do it again…only better.
15. I’ve written two full fiction novels and am nearly 200 pages into my third.
16. Writing a novel is easier for me than writing short stories.
17. I like writing horror novels because I honestly believe that it is only in the darkness do humans show their best sides.
18. It’s the same reason I read such intense books.
19. I am more often plagued by nightmares when I’m NOT reading scary novels.
20. I’m afraid of heights and pointy, jutting objects.
21. Really shiny floors lit by fluorescent lights make me nauseous.
22. So do Bloody Mary’s and most dishes that pair rice with hamburger meat.
23. I genuinely like the taste of beer.
24. 98% of my favorite beers are dark or red.
25. I always have either New Castle or Smithwicks in my fridge.
26. The last beer I had before self surrendering to prison was a James Boag Lager at Outback Steakhouse.
27. The last meal was French Toast and Bacon at Bob Evan’s
28. I love to cook and bake.
29. While on house arrest I developed a love for bread making (not using any machine)
30. My best friend here used to be a baker at a Cinnamon roll shop.
31. I love Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Frosting.
32. I still think Cinnabon makes the best cinnamon rolls.
33. My favorite “family” dessert is a Cinnamon Bar, which is a cinnamon blond brownie, covered in cinnamon sugar and chocolate chips.
34. The first year I’m home I plan on living on homemade desserts.
