You guys are awesome and so supportive. Thank you for all the kind words on my last entry!

I’m currently doing my Emergency and ICU rotation. It’s split into week-long sections between the two areas. I’m in the emergency room this week. So far it hasn’t been too bad. Monday we were slammed for a couple of hours. I saw two patients, neither of which was too critical, though one stayed the night in ICU so it could be transferred for a workup with Internal Medicine. Yesterday was painfully quiet. The patient I signed up for never came in because it passed away prior to coming in :( And then nothing else came in during my shift. We’ll see what tonight brings.

I kind of like this shift. Instead of the typical 8am to 5pm or later shift, they have us working 3pm until 11pm or later. The reasoning is that most general practices are open during business hours so more patients come in to the ER in the evening. Getting to sleep in has been wonderful. I am not a morning person. I can get stuff done in the morning if need be, but my body really wants to sleep from 1am until 10am. It’s just so much nicer waking up on my own instead of be blasted with an alarm. I’ll be back to the normal early morning start next week, but it’s nice to actually catch up on some sleep.

Counting this one, I only have 4 more rotations left. Less than 8 weeks to go. I’m having a really hard time wrapping my mind around that.
