what a great movie!!!!!!!!!!! i loved this one so much.
so innocent and just so sweet.
to be young and to go through these parts of life.
i could not imagine how difficult it would have been for a young woman to leave her country (ireland) with all that she has known and to move all the way over to brooklyn, new york to cross the atlantic to find herself as she was not making it in ireland. america was a chance at opportunity. it takes places in the 1950s. how beautiful brooklyn was then.
such strength to do this and to come over here ultimately adapting, finding herself, falling in love, to learn, to then also deal with life issues going on in ireland. to choose between the new life and old life, new customs, old customs, new adventures or just settle for every day life as you see it.
it is a balance and decisions that we all have to deal with.
what i love about this movie is the innocence of the period. it is timeless.
the courting. to be young.
even the american young man (italian new yorker) is just so sweet. some of the lines are just super cute. i think most women young or older would think that some of the lines this guy says so adorable. what women wouldn’t love that. it was just so proper. i liked it :)

what i like about the movie is the story line is quite simple but you find yourself feeling for the characters, what they go through, perhaps things you have gone through already, challenges you face today, standards, wanting acceptance, not allowing someone to live your life, decisions with life. i think you could get something out of it even if its in a different period.

i also like the fact that they even speak about long island. brooklyn is ON long island but that is another story for another time but technically is a borough of new york city. i live on long island. :)

the costumes, the back ground scenery, cinematography, the acting was quite well. i feel if anything the movie could have been 30 minutes longer. i love all the red and dark lip sticks as well. cute a-line skirts. the pearls. i love.
it almost felt too rushed. i do not want to give any spoilers to anyone however i can say i loved it. i would recommend it!
