These are crime/suspense fiction. There are 8 in the series and I have read 7. The 8th just came out in hardcover so I will wait for it to come out in soft cover. I really enjoyed these books. They are easy to read and average at about 450 pages in trade paperback. I finished each in 3 - 4 days. I found them very compelling and once I started reading one was loathe to put it down. They can be a little dark in terms of subject matter, possibly triggering for subjects like abuse.

I liked them so much I purchased her next two series as well. I don’t think you have to read them in order but I would recommend doing so because there is some development of character and character life events that happen in a very specific chronology.

The only negative I would have is that she reuses some plot devices in some of the books which you might not notice if you read these books over the years in which they were written. However, if you read them back to back to back, they kind of stick out.

I do not mind the idea of recurring themes or motifs when they add to the overall meaning of the book but let’s have an original plot. Please. Again, it’s not overbearing just a mild irritation

The Nest - Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney

I REALLY enjoyed this book. I was invested from the first chapter. It was immensely readable.

2016 total: 26 books

I caught you on the front page - I've read quite a few of your Jan/Feb books! I've actually got The Widow to read next.
Another twisty/thrillery book you might enjoy is The Passenger - Lisa Lutz

Speaking of reusing plot devices, did you ever catch that episode of Three's Company in which Jack was involved in some big misunderstanding?
