Just started watching that series on Netflix. It’s not bad! I’d never been a fan on zombie movies/books/whatever… but I like the way the first season is developing, at least. It’s basically survival in a disaster area. Coulda been a disease, a natural catastrophe, alien invasion.... but it was zombies. I just wish it weren’t so gory all the time. But I guess you can’t have zombies without gore.
Another series I began watching a couple of months ago is The Knick (cinemax). It’s basically a medical drama set in 1900. What makes it special is not only the old-time medical stuff (which is actually really fascinating, what with the lack of hygiene, the inventing of new procedures, like to cure syphilis and addiction and stuff, the crazy-ass treatments), but the whole turn-of-the-century historical New York thing. The whores and the gambling, the first apartments and skyscrapers, the arrival of electricity and cars, the (very) slow realization that women, blacks and immigrants might actually be people with RIGHTS. Sometimes their reality is downright insulting. But fascinating all the same. Plus the characters are awesome. Exaggerated, but awesome.
It’s funny that I’ve had time to watch any TV at all, but I do manage an episode every once in a while.
Daniel went to sleep at 10:19 pm today, a definite improvement… (especially considering last night he went to sleep past midnight) but not nearly good enough. The pediatrician says he really should be sleeping hopefully at 8, cos growth hormone peaks between 8-10. NO WONDER I’M SO SHORT. I always had trouble going to sleep as a child (NEVER as a grown up). So I guess we’ll have to deal with that bedtime somehow.... wish me luck, y’all....
