A Nos Amour (1983) in Movies

A slice of life coming of age film that pretty astutely observes a family all suffering from various depressions that are manifesting themselves in morbidly french incestuous ways that just makes their depressions and sense of detachment all the more stark. Suzanne doesn't love. She bounces from one boy to the next because some people cut and others prefer to be "pierced". Her father and brother are hitters who get out their sexual frustrations and jealousies of her by slapping her around while they call her out on being a slut, which really just makes her detachment worse. Her mother is a dwindling mess of bipolarism, loving one minute, then spitting venom the next. The furtive asides and unfulfilled passions will leave you cringing. Everytime someone in the movie gets hit, it's like they just said, "I won't to bone you, but you're family!" Ah, the French....
