“Hello, my name is scanman, and I blog about what I eat.” “Hi, scanman.”

Anyway, yes, this entry is going to be about what I had for breakfast today. First, because I really enjoyed it; second, because it’s a reason to write in my journal.

I went to Bob Evans after an early Dr. appointment, and ordered the Farmer’s Choice breakfast. You get two eggs, made to order; bacon, sausage, or ham; home fries, hash browns, or cheesy hash brown casserole, topped with cheese, scallions and bacon; and three hotcakes, 2 crepes, or 2 pieces brioche french toast. The hash brown casserole was a seasonal addition to the menu, and since I love anything with cheese, I tried it out, along with eggs over medium, a slice of ham, and the hotcakes.

The eggs were excellent, firm whites, without crispy edges, and smooth, runny yolks. Peppered sensibly, they were perfection. The ham was thick enough to require using a knife, but not so thick as to overwhelm a combination forkful, which is my preferred method and includes a bit of everything on the fork. The cheesy hash brown casserole was held together well by cheddar cheese, without being gummy, and topped with more cheese melted on top, shredded bacon, scallions, and a sensible dollop of sour cream. I set my hotcakes aside, in effect a dessert course, considering how fluffy and cake-like they were. I would probably prefer 2 hotcakes to three, given how large they were. I topped them with one tub of whipped butter that was spread nicely by the serrations of my knife, looking like a freshly furrowed field. The maple syrup was satisfyingly thick, so it did not run off my bite in ribbons to rest in my beard.

To drink, I had coffee with hazelnut flavored creamer, an unexpected treat, and a large orange juice, whose acidity nicely countered the savory meal.

At meal’s end I was just a bit more than comfortably full, but completely satisfied, enjoying everything to do with my meal.

5/5, would definitely reccomend, and order again
