Very rarely does Adele ever seem comfortable in her own skin. In fact, only twice in the near three-hour runtime of this film did I ever say to myself, "Oh, look at her, enjoying life!" Well, three, now that I think about. 1) Having sex with Emma. Not any other moments with Emma, mind you... only the ones where they were having sex. 2) Dancing with her work colleague. She needed the release and you could see her lose herself in the music and let it take over. 3) When she was teaching the preschoolers, reading to them in particular. She really connected with them then. She never seemed to connect with the first-graders. In fact, she never seems to connect with anyone. Just those three moments when she seemed to connect with herself. And mistake it for a connection with someONE.
