Sponge in Confessions

When I first started seeing Sarah, I noticed in her bathroom that she had an assortment of these things that looked like toilet bowl cleaners. Just basically sponges with long handles on them. I didn’t think much of it, there’s nothing too weird about having toilet cleaners in your bathroom. But she had so many of them that it did cross my mind that maybe they were for something else.

We’d actually been together for a while before she eventually told me what they are for. Because of her size, she is unable to wipe herself after using the bathroom. The sponges on a stick help her reach what she otherwise wouldn’t.

It may be an unpleasant thing to talk about, but she considers them essential for decent bathroom hygiene. But it was a regular complaint of hers that she couldn’t take them out of the house, and therefore when she needed to poop in a public restroom, she was essentially unable to clean herself. She’d have no choice but to just wait until she got home.

It’s not something she really wanted to admit to me, but after we’d moved in together a lot of secrets start to go away. Whenever she comes home and immediately goes to the bathroom, the reason is she needs to clean herself from an experience she’d had during the day.

So when shopping around for her for Christmas, I came across one that had a telescoping handle and a small travel bag, perfect for fitting into her purse. I thought it would be perfect and ordered a few of them.

Out of everything I got her for Christmas, she seemed to like this gift the most.
