Discouraged. Help. in 2013

First things first, I'm back on my PPD meds for 2 days now, so I AM feeling a little more like myself. Thank goodness.

Now, what's next.

We have Joshua's appointment with his DAN/Naturopath doctor on Monday. In 4 days. When I called them they told us that there was a good chance insurance wouldn't cover ANY of it. So I called and they confirmed, they cover ZERO.

So I put it out there. This $300 initial appointment is our next step and real hope for getting some help. They discount it down to $150, and appointments afterwards are $100 each. I put it out there and I got some great responses. I linked up to my fundraising site on Twitter and got donations. $150 worth! WE CAN GO TO THE APPOINTMENT! Oh my gosh I can't tell you how thankful I am. What a weight lifted. Especially since we are SO behind with our head NOWHERE near being above water. We don't have an extra penny. NOT ONE.

So they just called again. I told them I have the $150 for the visit. I asked if that was ALL I needed. She politely told me that most likely, the doctor will request labs. That insurance probably won't cover. Labs that I NEED to be done. Blood & urine testing, deficiency testing, possible genetic testing (which we REALLY REALLY NEED), and more. I have no idea how much those will cost. Then if he decides to get started on a supplement regimen, that costs God knows how much. Then to come back, discuss results, and figure out a game plan -- another visit. More money.

I'm not going to lie. I'm discouraged. There's help out there and we can't afford it. Insurance doesn't think it's necessary so they don't help with it.

Our therapist will be coming with paperwork on Monday to help us try to get somewhere with state help for "disabled" families. That would help a lot. But who knows how long it's going to take.

I have other news, lighter news, some uplifting news, too. When I can come back to write again, I will bring better news.
