Day Twenty Six: What are you thankful for this very second?

This instant, I am thankful to be warm and cozy in my home on a very cold morning. I’m thinking about the homeless who are sleeping on cardboard boxes wrapped in blankets under the interstate, and the people who do have homes but can’t afford to heat them. I’m thinking, too, about the pets that are out in the cold because their owners are heartless, or because they don’t have an owner. That breaks my heart almost more than thinking about the homeless humans, because the pets are completely at our mercy.

I have many blessings. I have worked hard for what I have, but I have also been fortunate in many ways, just like most people who live comfortable lives. Today I am most thankful for my health and my family. My friends, and my job.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It always amazes me how squirrels can survive the deep cold of winter.

It's good to count our blessings!

Yes, if you have the basics you are way up in the thankfulness zone. I'm with you where the animals are concerned.
