Once again not holding out any hope.
We had a second viewing yesterday from a female vicar who is retiring in April. She is in a position where she can buy now and do any alterations she likes before she moves in. (She wants to change the kitchen too!)
She came round with one of her colleagues who had already retired and bought a house close by. She was very complimentary of the house and was certainly on our side for moving quickly.
A couple of hours after she’d looked round we had a call from the Estate Agents. Now bear in mind that when we first put the house on the market we were asking £315,000. We knew this was a little high, but it left bargaining space. Trouble was people weren’t looking at it as it was too much, so we dropped it to £299,950. Why agents have to insist on these stupid numbers I have no idea. I guess it’s so they can say it’s less than £300,000, sales speak! Got views at this but not a great deal of takers. So we reduced it again to £289,950. We really wanted a quick sale because we had found the ideal place down in Cornwall.
Now, whether it’s just my logical side that speaks here, but if there was a house that was well out of my comfort zone I wouldn’t even look at it. The vicar offered us £275,000, £15,000 below the asking price. The agents know that the last buyers settled on £285,00 and we said then that this was our absolute lowest. Vicar-lady came back and said she didn’t really want to pay that much but will check her finances and come back to us. If she didn’t expect to pay close why did she even look? Just a bloody waste of time. Grrrrr.
So as I said, I’m not holding out much hope.
Spent more time yesterday researching for future articles. Had one rejection due to the fact they have a regular writer that does the feature I had proposed. I’m sure it won’t be the last I get, and it has left the door open for articles that they DO use freelance for, so that’s no big deal.
I also spent time improving mywebsite and actually starting a blog. A lot of freelancers advise to do this but I have never done a proper one, deeming Prosebox to be my blog, but I have started a different one which I will use more for work type issues.
Check it out if you want at www.PaulSmart.org . As always feedback will be gratefully accepted.
Stay Safe, Peeps.
