Day Nineteen: Who is your least favorite family member? Why.
My Aunt Dorothy is my least favorite family member. She is an alcoholic and she has had past drug problems as well. This is not uncommon in my family but she is a low-life. Her children are the oldest of us grandchildren. She use to tie them to chairs in their home and go to a bar while they sat and screamed/cried for hours. This was 35+ years ago but my mother broke in and took them once. She refused to give the kids back until my Aunt got help. She faked getting help and took her kids after a few months only to repeat her actions. She would bring men home constantly and have intercourse in front of her young children. Most of what she did wasn’t found out till they were much older because they did not tell and were afraid of her.
As if her treatment towards her children isn’t enough, she hates my mother and is insanely jealous of the relationships her other siblings have. She calls when we have family gatherings to discuss how she is the “black sheep” and it is because my mother was jealous of her for “stealing a boyfriend” that my mother doesn’t even remember existing. She loves to interrupt family gatherings with these calls of lies, screams and hysterics.
Her children are not allowed to visit my grandmother. If she finds out they do she flips out that they may have saw my mother or her other siblings since they live near my grandmother. She lives 3 miles away from grandma but visits less than 1 time every few months.
She tried to sleep with my father and my uncle. They both told their wives and walked out on her.
She upsets my grandmother with late night phone calls and confusing stories about events that didn’t happen in life. My grandmother has dementia and is easily upset and confused, it is worse at night.
She waited till my grandfather’s funeral and announced that her daughter was molested by my grandfather. She said he must have touched her daughter because she is so beautiful and she loved him and always wanted to be near him. She then said he called her daughter and asked if she cleaned her privates because she was in the bathtub. Her daughter can’t recall any of this ever happening and I was the closest grandchild to my grandfather without ever an incident even remotely inappropriate.
Yes. I do not like my aunt.
