December is going to be a very busy month for us this year... it's going to be hard on me, but it's really nice to have plans that don't involve 'sit at home and mope because nobody loves me (except John). Right before we found our little buggy friends in the bedroom, John built a computer for his brother-in-law and it's been sealed away in plastic ever since waiting until we were sure it was 'safe' for us to go up to Orlando and take it to him. Since the pests are all gone now and it's December already, we'd planned to go up for Christmas and take it with us then, but it turns out Dick won't be there - he's going north to spend the holiday with his kids. So we're going to go to Orlando next weekend instead. John will spend Saturday sitting around teaching Dick how to use the new machine, and then we'll go home on Sunday. And then we'll go BACK for Christmas because I really wanted to spend the holiday with family. The only real snag is that it means twice as much gas in the car, and the price is going up already! I talked to John's sister yesterday to tell her our changed plans, and I told her that we're going to bring dinner up with us on Friday... they always feed us and look after us and won't let me do anything more than put away the dishes while we're there, so we owe them, and we can't afford to take them out. I'll make a lasagna and a nice cake this week and we can heat it up Friday night.
The next weekend after that is the church Christmas Concert, which I really want to go to. They're charging admission this year, but they're making a much bigger production of it than they have before, and having a massed choir from three churches, special guests etc. They're going to do the concert once at each church... I'd thought about going back to the choir just for the Christmas concert because that sort of special event is fun and I love Christmas music, but then I thought a little more and realised that I wasn't at all likely to be able to manage it three nights in a row. Once, I could fake my way through with some extra pain pills, but it would take me days to recover. I was down for the count all week after our big movie outing! So I decided to let it pass, which was probably the best thing to do.
And the weekend after THAT we're back to Orlando for Christmas. I had wanted to go see the Arabian Nights horse show, but when I asked Rita about it she said that they just announced this week that it's gone bust! Shame... I've had it on my radar for years, but that sort of thing is really a once-a-year luxury so we never got around to it. They already have plans to go to the Pirates dinner show, so we'll go to that with them instead. The only snag is the price tag. It's a pretty expensive night (easily $100 for the two of us), but it'll just have to be our chistmas present. The only other thing I asked for is a nice big heating pad, because laying on the heating pad was the nicest thing about my massages... now I just need to figure out what to do about small christmas presents for everyone. I know they say 'don't give us anything' but I'd like to give them a token gift anyway. I just need to figure out what doesn't cost any money, because right now we haven't got a penny to spend. Maybe there's something really easy I could make?
