I have very little ambition right now. Today wasn’t horribly busy. My patient is so cute. Such a sweet, friendly dog! Spent a lot of time waiting for my patient’s procedures, which were pretty cool and kind of gross. Actually think, despite being a diagnostic procedure, we helped her feel a bit better. Finished up her discharge letter, got through 2% of VetPrep, my NAVLE study program. Though I was going to have to be at school until 7 or so since my patient was still recovering from anesthesia and couldn’t go home until a little later than usual, but then the clinician who is on the case with me said I could go home! Wheee! No 12 hour day for me! I should be preparing for my appointments tomorrow but....eh. I’ll get to it.
My Dentistry rotation was cancelled because we currently have no dentists. Ridiculous. So then we were tasked with finding an alternative externship with a dentistry focus. I had no opportunity to call anyone during my externship last block, so I was getting kind of anxious that I wouldn’t be able to find a good one. Yesterday I was finally able to contact some places and secured myself a spot at my top choice! I’m pretty pleased. I’m not a huge dentistry fan. It’s important and will be a big part of my general practice career but all dentistry all the time does not sound like a fun rotation. I’ll be doing this externship at a referral practice that also has an emergency service so, I’ll actually get to split my time between emergency and dentistry. Interesting combination :P I have no experience in emergency medicine, so it’ll be a good primer for my ER/ICU rotation in the spring. Plus, breaks from dentistry are great!
PS - two weeks until NAVLE. EEK!!!!
