Before I get started on errands and phone calls, I had to recount this conversation. As I was taking my eldest grandson to start his arduous day in the first grade, he started this conversation:
Reese: Grandpa, did you know I have a Grandma in Heaven?
Me: Yes, I was married to her. That’s how I’m your Grandpa.
Reese: So she’s in Heaven with Bradley and Shea?
Me: Yes (Now I’m thinking I get to talk to him about Heaven and other heavy subjects on the way to school, right?)
Reese: How do you spell Shea’s name?
Me: S H E A.....
Reese (after a moment of thought): The “E” should be at the end ‘cause it’s silent, like in “name”.
Me: You think so?
Reese: Yes, if you could go to school they could teach you about that. But old people can’t go to school, because they don’t learn things anymore when they get old.
I’m pretty sure there was an unintended burn in that one. Slam and dunk, young sir. Point goes to you. We shall have a rematch one day.
