Okay, so everyone told me having a newborn was a lot of work. No sleeping, hormone blues, crying, painful breastfeeding… and so forth and so on. But I didn’t really GET IT. Now I do. It’s A LOT OF WORK!! So I’m so sorry I’ve been a stranger, and haven’t kept up with my friends/bookmarks. I promise I’ll get to it soon. It’s amazing how, despite being on maternity leave, I have absolutely NO FREE TIME to do anything… except eat, wash up, sleep (when I can), go to the dr, wash baby clothes and do a few household chores. The first week I couldn’t even do that. Now I’ve managed to sneak in some chore time in between feeds and I’m feeling great. LOL.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m enjoying it. Daniel’s really gotten the hang of this breastfeeding thing, so it’s much more pleasant for both of us, and he’s gaining weight nicely. I love spending time with him, cuddling him, changing him (an adventure every time–I’ve gotten peed on and dumped on more times than I can count), feeding him, burping him… but it doesn’t leave much time for anything else. My mom and dad help a lot, mostly with the household chores thing… but there’s stuff that they CAN’T do. And after 22 days of hardly any sleep, there’s moments when I’m too tired to think. Daniel’s really good too (maybe TOO good). He probably wouldn’t even wake up at night if I didn’t have to feed him… and I’m supposed to feed him every 3 hours. But last night I overslept, went straight from 9:30 pm to 2:30 am… which makes me feel kinda awful, like I was starving him. And he didn’t even budge. Cutie.

Ok, I’m not making any sense. :) It HAS gotten easier with time, and I’m hoping it’ll get easier still… in the sense I’ll be used to it and stop longing for a whole night’s sleep. Plus Daniel will be stronger and the weather won’t be so cold in a couple of weeks, so we wouldn’t have to be cooped up so much. Think that’s also driving us kinda crazy.
