i forgot in my last entry to update you about my grandmother.
she had the PET scan done last week when i was upstate. she had the test wednesday morning and we went out to lunch that afternoon. after lunch, the doctors called her back (we were standing on the corner right after leaving the restaurant saying our goodbyes). no cancer anywhere else in her body! we cried and hugged and thanked God for this small miracle. they should be able to remove what is in her lung easily and quickly. she is going for an MRI on her brain soon and then they can schedule the surgery. shes worried about the MRI because its a closed MRI, its going to take a long time, shes a little clostrophobic, and the machine is probably going to be loud. she and my grandfather do everything together, so to not have him in the room and to be in a closed MRI is freaking her out a little. hopefully, everything goes smoothly and quickly and we get good results back soon.
some more good news…i was officially hired by the NYCDOE today! i went this morning to verify my I-9 form (basically saying yes i am who i am and ive already been finger printed through the state twice) and then i got an email this afternoon saying i was officially hired. i wanted to get online and finish updating my profile and email and some other things i need to do before school starts, but i guess the system needs some more time before all my ID numbers have been uploaded. i called HR and they said it should take 3-4 days to update the system. theyre a little on overload right now, so things are taking a little longer. so hopefully by monday, i have everything sorted out and ready to go!
the teacher finder website still doesnt say im placed at a school, but i think i need to submit this one form to my payroll secretary at my school in order for that to go through…so yeahhh
baby has been kicking up a storm (like right now…hes always active around 11pm!) and im just feeling stretched and large. i babysat tonight this girl ive been sitting for, for about 3 years now…and she finally understands that im pregnant. she asked to see the baby and i had to explain to her that we cant see him yet because hes still in my belly. she got excited when she touched and rubbed my belly and then started rubbing her own belly too. it was cute. im still worried about her…shes 6, going into first grade, but shes still not like a “regular” or “average” 6 year old (i use quotes because was is really regular or average). i honestly think shes on the autism spectrum, but nothing has been diagnosed and im not a dr…i do see a lot of kids who have autism and she fits some categories for me. 1. she rarely makes eye contact and when she does it is for short amounts of time, 2. she mainly likes to play by herself, watching videos online and playing with her princess figurines, 3. she is obsessed with frozen and has been obsessed with other shows in the past (elmos potty time was a BIG thing for awhile), 4. the way she speaks is not normal…you still cannot have a regular conversation with her…its like talking to a 2 year old (she was delayed quite a bit with her speech), 5. she still likes a lot of things that are not age appropriate, like blues clues and baby toys, 6. it is difficult to get her to try anything new or anything in a different way. things need to be exactly on schedule or else she has difficulty coping with what is going on (like we sat on the floor instead of at the table to play a board game today…she was very uncomfortable) so…just some red flags for me, but nothing i can definitively say that she would be on the spectrum…she just has tendencies. i dunno…i feel weird bringing it up to her parents. i love her so much and i want whats best for her, but i dont want to ruin anything or say something that really isnt my business. she just seems a bit “worse” (for lack of a better word) since shes been out of school for the summer. sigh
anyway…in other good news!
the drug dealer in my building was arrested yesterday! whoooohoooo!! the police raided his apartment early in the morning. i got up to get ready for training around 6 and heard this banging and the building was shaking. i thought it was our neighbors on the corner because they have been doing some construction on their house, so i didnt think much of it. i heard some voices while getting ready, but nothing too loud or anything. so, i left around 7:15 and the police had our doors open with some vests and there were about 6 unmarked police cars surrounding our building and they were cuffing him! he didnt even look sorry. he looked like “alright, haha, you caught me!” like it was a joke kinda. no one asked me any questions. i guess they found a gun in his apartment and some drugs. hes also had a bunch of prior arrests. so he is gone and my building no longer smells like weed today :) my first floor neighbors are super happy. he has made their life hell since he moved in. he is intentionally loud because they called the landlord on him a bunch of times. so apparently he isnt allowed to come back to this building. however! his wife conveniently left town on tuesday (not sure when shes coming back or where she went) and so she currently isnt being arrested as an accomplice…she is just as nasty as he is, so she’ll be back at some point. the landlords were in the process of evicting them anyway…so we’ll have to see how everything pans out with her. but i know the rest of us tenants want to make sure the next person allowed into the building is a good person. everyone else in the 5 remaining units have been awesome…steady jobs, pay rent on time, dont make too much noise, are nice to each other…so we want to keep our quiet building. we’ll just have to wait and see!
alright well im getting tired even though i barely did anything today…its all this growing baby energy i guess! goodnight everyone.
