Most have heard the cliché “take a long walk off a short pier”. A common cure for depression that amuses one and hopefully warms the heart to think better of the situation.
We have a lovely pier. The glitch is you will have to take a longer walk off of a long pier. It is a diabolical trick here in my home town as anyone who is truly depressed and wishing to say the long goodbye will fail dismally.

You will be greeted with beautiful lights that line the catwalk, stunning sunsets or the multicolor reflections and refractions of the suns, sky, moon and churning sea.

You fight for your life out there. The sea grabs at you and you remember your instinct to survive. Your desire to win the battle against a truly deadly foe. Life seems simple when mother nature takes notice of you.

One ponders beginnings not endings when standing at the end of a rainbow.

A lovely piece and beautiful photos. I literally picture someone ready to give up and gradually changing their mind/fighting to still want to do it the further they walk on the pier... Until they get to the end, and take a seat instead
