Pre-show Show in TTL.

For the last I-don't-remember-how-many years, we've gone with friends to their place for some July Fourth barbecue, and then walked over to the waterfront near their place, to watch the most-local-to-them fireworks. I've had to bring a long lens, and zoom as much as I can, and I still end up cropping the photos pretty heavily.

This year, they've moved, and I found a new place to watch the fireworks. Kelly and I met up with friends at a mall, parked our cars, and then walked out to the waterfront in a different city. Rachel had been there the previous year, and said the view was pretty cool. And when I looked on the city's web site, it turns out that there would be a pre-show show in the park, with a local news anchor fronting a band in the park.

So we had a grand time with friends, sitting in the park, right on the waterfront, easily sitting among scattered neighbors, not shoulder-to-shoulder (as I had worried), wandering to the food trucks parked nearby, and listening to great music.

It was a great way to spend the evening as the sun set.

And who doesn't love light-up headbands?
