Finally!!
Oh man, these last few weeks, the day couldn’t come fast enough. I know it’s mostly psychological, that when you KNOW you’re close to the end you just want it to come faster… but still. The first week of July was terrible, I was so tired and cranky and I didn’t want to work. This last week was much better, though there was LOTS of work, and the days were long, I managed to get it done.
And the celebrating… oh man, the celebrating. It was great, exhausting, but great. It all started on July 1st, my 1st surprise baby shower… then the next day I had my official baby shower. Almost 30 people there! Lots of awesome presents, and the best time. My friends went all out making healthy snacks, they even made real fruit juice from actual fruit… I can’t thank them enough.
Then on Saturday, Chile won the American Soccer Cup final! No matter what they say… we won fair and square. And against Argentina, no less… They hate our guts now, but they’ve won lots of times, and WE never had. Chile is like the ultimate underdog… always making an effort, always “almost there” but not quite. Never a medal winner, never a first place… until now. I know it SOUNDS dumb… but for us, it’s a game changer. It means we CAN win. We CAN be first place. We CAN do stuff.
On Monday I had my 3rd baby shower, and ate more yummy forbidden food and got lots of awesome presents. Then on tuesday, we celebrated one of my best friends’ birthday, so… more food ;) and more presents (just not mine). On wednesday I had a night out with some colleagues, and on thursday dinner with some friends from my building complex…
It’s been a fun a week! But exhausting. So today I decided to take it easy and just lie around in bed all day. I’ve still done stuff… dishes, laundry, normal housework… just in my pj’s. This is stuff I’m never gonna get to do again after Daniel is born, so I gotta do it NOW. We’ve been relaxing, just the three of us (Daniel, Rum and I), taking it easy. Cozy rainy day.
What else? Congratulations, American friends, on your own soccer triumph! And as for Serena Williams and Roger Federer… well, everyone knows they rock, and I think they’re just awesome, but I do sort of wish someone would beat Roger every once in a while. It’s like no one even has a chance.
Reading this over, it sounds kind of flaky/teenagery. But oh well, I’m in that kinda mood.
