Yesterday morning, I got an alert to download something (I think from microsoft). I turned off the computer and turned it back on. Lo and behold, the computer now has amnesia - it no longer recognizes the ethernet cable that brings the Internet to my home. YIKES!!

I called Time Warner - the woman walked me through what to do - and resent the signal. Uh.. No change.

I called microsoft for windows help. Since I am using an old operating system, they wouldn’t talk with me.

I called Lenovo, the manufacturer. Seems that the computer is not on their system - they can’t even open an account for me since it’s so OLD. And since it’s outside the warranty - THEY won’t talk with me.

My choices - take the laptop to the library to see if it’ll read the wi-fi they have there, then if yes, either return daily or think about getting wi-fi at home; OR download all I want to keep of my files (that entails buying back up CDs, editing out what I no longer want to save and backing up my files - yuck) and then bringing the computer to the computer store and have them upload the Windows 7 disks - for about $100! Since Windows 10 is out, WHY would I upload Windows 7 - it would be obsolete immediately!!

Next possible choice - least work, least stress - a new computer! I do NOT want to do this!!!!
