Man, I keep wanting to come chat at you all but I run out of time! The days are slipping away from me, faster than I was prepared for. I got my Idaho Teacher Credentials in the mail, it’s an interim license good until 2018, by which point I need to have taken 2 different Idaho Teacher classes, one on literacy (which I think I can test out of, I’m WAY literate) and one on Higher Thinking Math instruction. No problem :)
We are officially moved out of our rental, the only home Milo has ever known, eee! We are staying in a friend’s “mother in law apartment” in the basement of her house. Her husband is sort of an ass, but it’s free and there’s a washer and drier, wifi, and Dish! No stove or oven, but hey. There’s a full bathroom and we can do laundry whenever we want, so it’s not all bad. :)
Ross’s dad gifted us $5,000 for the move, which he wrote as a check to Ross. Ross then deposited it into his personal Wells Fargo account and spent half of. On just.. random nonsense, old bills, credit card debt, various things that added up somehow magically to $2,500. There were lots of fast food runs and food deliveries since we moved into the basement, so that accounts for a fair amount of it, but still. Jesus. I did spend like $400 on camping supplies for the road trip, a tent and air beds (which Kasin will use once we get to Idaho, as we sold his bed.) and a portable DVD player and some battery pack chargers and car adapters for our cell phones and various tablets and things for the kids.
I was heated and I sent him multiple warnings about his spending. I finally transferred the money out of his account into mine, when it got down to like $2800… I left him $300 and transferred the remaining $2500. Mind you, our UHaul rental ALONE is going to cost about $1800. So once that goes through, we still need to make a deposit on a house and pay first month’s rent somewhere, which will be about $2000 all together. Thank god I have more paychecks coming to me before we leave, but I’m SUPER stressed about it.
Speaking of houses- We have 3 different potential rentals that Jesse and Jamie (Ross’s brother and his gf) are going to drive into Idaho to check out for us on Saturday. One of the realty places will not rent out “sight unseen” so have to send a scout, and figured we may as well have them check out the other two places while they’re in town, huh? :) I’m REALLY excited about one place in particular, and I REALLY hope we get it. It’s a 4 bedroom, 1 bath house that is going for $900/month with a $25 per pet monthly fee, so we’ll have a $900 deposit and rent will end up being $950/month. It has a fenced in back yard and all the amenities we want- dishwasher and washer drier, garage and a shed, driveway for off street parking. YAY!!!
The kids are THRILLED at the idea of having a real HOUSE, ALL to ourselves. When I told Kasin I was looking for a HOUSE and not a duplex or an apartment, he said “…so, we get… THE WHOLE HOUSE??” and was totally shocked and impressed lol. Im so excited :) I was really hoping for 2 bathrooms, but it seems to be like a $200-$300 difference in monthly rent, and we want to keep our rent under $1,000/month. We will still have utilities to pay, but I have gotten quotes from several places saying that they shouldn’t come to more than $200 per month. I can totally do that. That’s what I pay for just my cell phone right now, anyways. HA!
Anyhow, I promised Kasin bunk beds when we arrive in ID, and he really wants a kitten once we get there. I told him we would see after things settle down. I’ll keep getting paychecks from PHH until the end of August, and my left over vacation time will get cashed out on my last check, so I’m pretty pleased with all of that. I get a FULL paycheck the day we arrive in Idaho, so that will be a nice cushion to purchase household goods and groceries when we arrive.
I really want to buy new clothes, teacher stuff that’s weather appropriate. But that’ll have to wait. I also have a ton of units and supplies for my classroom that I want to purchase, but I figure that can wait until I’m there and settling into my room and see what I have available with the school. I’m sure I’ll end up buying a few units from Teachers Pay Teachers once I see what my materials and text books are about. :)
I have someone trained to replace me at work, but she is due with her first baby 2 or 3 days after I leave town. She and I are training one of the office assistants to cover for her while she’s on vacation, so everything is planned for and accommodated in that regard, but it’s still sort of anxiety inducing. I feel like time is slipping so much faster than I thought it would.
IT’S ALMOST TIME TO GO!
In non-move related news, I had a bunch of testing done and I am apparently I’m insulin resistant, again.. I had gotten that under control shortly after getting pregnant with Milo, but not anymore. They like your A1C number to be under 5, and I’m a 5.7, so they’re putting me back on Metformin to control it, which is what I took the last time this happened. Hopefully it helps me lose some weight and makes this never ending fatigue die down. I’m so tired of being tired.
