So… it’s been 5 weeks since I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, and 5 weeks since I went on this god-fearing diet. The first week was hard, afterwards I got used to it, and then this last week’s been hard again. Apparently baby is craving more calories… so I am too.
Anyway, yesterday I took the glucose and lypids test again. I’d lost about 5 lb so I was so sure I’d do well! But they’re WORSE :(. My 2 hrs post glucose levels were 161 the first time, and they’re 216 now. And my cholesterol used to be 305 and now it’s 335.
I feel like a huge ball of sugar and grease. Disgusting!!! And so disappointing. Keeping up with this diet’s been so hard, and I’d been really disciplined about it. Such a shame it doesn’t show. Makes me wonder… what if I weren’t dieting? Wouldn’t the results be the same?
So my gynecologist referred me to an endocrinologist, and SHE told me to monitor my blood sugar levels after normal meals. So now I have to stick my fingers 4 times a day. And if the levels aren’t good, I’ll have to go on insulin.
I know it’s no big deal, and only for a couple of months–and of course I’m gonna do it, since it’s for Daniel’s sake.
But oh man… I’m not even overweight. Why’s my body gotta be such a “%·”% mother f”·%”??
