So, induction was a pain in the ass. My last entry they had done the second balloon. That ended up falling out but stayed in my vagina (didnt fall out all the way). So, I was up all night trying to pee and not getting much out. I had no idea what was going on. In the morning when Dr. Wessman woke me up at 7am she did a cervix check and took the balloon out. Never have I been woken up with a check of the cervix, and whoa.....yikes! I was 4-5 Cms at that point but baby was still high, so she started pitocin. And, when the balloon came out I peed like SOOO Much! It felt amazing! So, pitocin. I started that morning at level 2 and every 1/2 hour to 45 mins depending on your contractions and stuff they up it to 4 then 6 etc. I got to 30 and stayed there for the alloted time and my cervix was checked again by Dr. Leeman.....3-4 Cms. So the balloon opened it and then it closed again....awesome! So, we turned off the pitocin around 9 and I took a walk (and cried) and a shower and stuff. We turned it back on around 11 that night. Same thing, depending on contractions we worked our way up.

Sunday morning Dr. Wessman came in to check on me and I was sure that I had not progressed...I didnt feel any differently. I was ready to say that if I was not progressing I wanted a c-section. This was day 5 of induction. She checked me around 9 am and I was 6 cms! So, she broke my water and we upped the pitocin and stuff started to happen. I was checked a couple of times throughout the day and was 9 1/2 cms by like 7:30pm. I got the epidural around noon maybe...I dont really remember. The contractions just suddenly got super intense. Once I had the epidural I was stuck in bed sucking on ice and eating popsicles. I tried to rest a little bit and watched some TV. The epidural was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Between 8 and 9 I was trying to get the baby to come down in the birth canal. My nurse, Melissa, who is amazing, put me in different positions in bed to try to achieve this. Around 9:15 we started some "practice pushes," even though I was not feeling that intense pressure yet. I quickly learned that, though pushing is REALLY hard work, it feels better to push through contractions. I pushed from about 9:20 to 10:36 when my beautiful baby *GIRL * was born!

She immediately was put skin to skin and screamed right away. After about 2 mins she opened her eyes and we just started at each other for over an hour. She is soooo incredibly beautiful! They took her to weigh her and clean her up after that. She was 7 lbs 3 oz. Everything sounded good in her lungs and all of that. The doctor sewed me up while I was snuggling and the nurse squirt me down and cleaned me up (damn, thats a nasty job). Eventually they took her to the nursery to clean her up and all that. In that time I needed to walk and pee. Both were difficult but peeing was definitely harder! They told me that if I didnt pee I would have to be catheterized again, so I managed to get some pee out. We finally got to our post partum room around 2 I think. I thanked Dr. Wessman again and hugged Melissa. I love her! We got the baby back around 3 and did not get much sleep because I was so crazy in love and in awe.

The next morning we tentatively named her Piper McKinley and decided to stick with it. She looks like a Piper.

I am soooooo in LOVE with this little girl my heart feels like it is going to explode. Ok, bed time. I will be back soon for more details and details about our first days!
