I have this song stuck in my head from Scrubs: In The Sun, Joseph Arthur.
So, I’m going to Romania this summer. I’m going to volunteer in an orphanage for 4 weeks.
I decided I needed to do something significant before my 30th birthday and this is what I settled on. I mean, I can’t have a baby by August 7th, I can’t (most likely not) find my other half and get married, I can’t get my teaching degrees, I can’t adopt.
I need to have something to show for my life thus far. I have the little things and the works in progress, but I need something more. So this is it. I will take Hungarian lessons once I get there, the region I’ll be in speaks mostly Hungarian, not Romanian.
Fees and air fare and everything together will be about $3000 (USD). My chiropractor said he would sponsor me for some amount, so that is cool. Also I’m going to ask my mother’s boyfriend’s father for some help or at least an advance on my Christmas cash. I’ll also ask Jennifer and her mom for help or at least an advance on my birthday and Christmas presents in the form of cash. I decided that this isn’t in bad taste because it is for a very good cause, its not just that I want some cash for cash’s sake.
I can’t wait!
I think I’ll feel like this song once I come back.
