I was scheduled to volunteer with a local group today, but though I’d had enough of the person I was to work with last year, I figured I’d tough it out this year, too.
It didn’t happen.
Yeah, I was late getting to the event (my fault, for sure), but I was NOT about to put up with the demeaning attitude of my ‘co-worker’, so I left.
It’s not the first time I left a mostly-volunteers event, but my philosophy is ‘do NOT alienate* the volunteers’.
Well, I was a volunteer, and this person definitely ‘alienated’ me, so what was the point of staying?
I’m gonna go turn some wrenches and probably get real dirty! :-)
[*Another term was used the first time I heard this line - it starts with a ‘p’ and ends with an ‘f’. :) ]
