old mother pictures photo: My beautiful mother Dorothy DorothyLouiseCopelandCoxAtkinson.jpg
mother was a lovely one
she brought us to this world
she gave us clothes and blew our nose
and cleaned up when we hurled

she had some men count one two three
and another guy or two
worth a shit not one of them
but what’s a child to do

mother never kissed us much
didn’t like to share a hug
her voice was clear and plain to hear
when called upon the rug

later as the years went by
we did as came around
mother was not much at home
and was out upon the town

naughty tots we cruised the streets
and ignored the witching bell
fun it was but and because
the neighbors paid with hell

drugs and thugs while sipping suds
defined the teenage years
mother wished for better things
while pondering over beers

years now past and on her own
mother has come to wish a kiss
a hug or two from you know who
a point she seems has missed

children are like a ball of clay
they’re molded as they grow
expect them not to do to much
of what they do not know

mother never kissed us much
didn’t like to share a hug
now she has to come to terms
with the hole of which she dug

Very important: If you want love you have to give it.

I really, really like this, it's beautifully crafted, circular in a way yet growing colder and darker as it progresses, just like the unfolding story it sadly describes..

You have a way with words, very cleverly and well put together with internal rhyming and everything. Also great meaning behind it all too
