So far it is not raining today, a bit different as of late. Seems we have had a wetter than normal and cooler than normal summer for this area. I only complain about the rain as I reduces my amount of time to ride. It will soon become clear to readers of this diary of sorts that I in a serious love affair with "Annie". Annie is my 2003 100th Anniversary Edition Harley Davidson "Night Train". She is Gunmetal Pearl, and supposed one of just 738 made. She had custom pipes by Samson, a single saddle by Mustang, spikes on the front axel, Willie G. Skull on the air cleaner, shift pedal and brake pedal. She even has a Willie G. visor on the headlight. Though Annie is 10 years old she has just over 14000 miles on her. I am the second owner and she has been kept out of the weather since new. In fact she still looks brand new! I detail out my Harley before every ride, wiping her down like currying a throughbred before a ride. I am very proud of my bike. She is loud and powerful, no creature comforts. A friend at work looked at her and said, "it is a frame and engine". He was suprised that it is a 88 cubic inch motor, which is not the biggest factory engine available today! Annie is a "Softtail", and with the barebones look she has a nostaglic look to her. The Samson Pipes are long, low and huge in diameter, and without mufflers or baffles. She appears to be a ridigid frame, but does have a rear suspension This is my first Harley, in fact my first bike. It was love at first sight for me. Once the dealer fired her up and I felt the thump of the exhaust notes in my chest I knew I had to have her. She has a nice lopping idle as she is the last of the factory carburated bikes. Funny, I started off talking about the weather and ended up rambling on about my Harley. Guess it is the "American Icon" thing.
