Tomorrow in Earth and Sky

Tomorrow is the big day! We got a call from the Ultrasound department yesterday saying that they had to bump up my appointment from 9:30 to 1:30 because the doctor who has the final say on gender had a “prior engagement”. We were both a little frustrated because I have to be into work for 2:30, but it works out because I only work 3 floors up from where the ultrasound is being done. Perks of working in a hospital, I guess.

I’ve been kind of anxious this week. I feel like I might be starting to feel the little one move but I can’t be sure, and because it’s been so long since we’ve seen him/her I’m so worried that something might be wrong. I keep checking the toilet paper after every time I use the bathroom out of fear that I’ll see something red or out of the ordinary, but I suppose this kind of stress is normal. It’s jitters too, I think. I’m so anxious for the appointment tomorrow and I’m really, really hoping we’re able to find out the gender. I can’t believe I’m going to be 19 weeks on Friday.

In other news, all of my stuff is still missing. Apparently the person who stole my purse sold my phone to some guy for 300 dollars. How do I know this? Because the moron who bought my phone used the emergency contact info that you can find on a locked iphone to contact me on facebook. This is how the conversation went:

Him: Hey you don’t know me but I just bought a phone from some guy and it has your information in it

Him: It’s a iphone six

Me: Are you serious?

Him: Yes

Me: My friends car was broken into yesterday and my entire purse was stolen
How can you even get into the phone? It’s locked.

Him: Damn that’s fucked up well your phone I bought it I can’t help you with anything else I’m so sorry to hear that
I pressed emergency info and they you were.

Me: I don’t know what to do. I can’t buy it from you. I’m pregnant and my husband and I are trying to save money for our baby. This is such a fucking mess.

Him: I’m sorry to hear that but I wasted 300 for it and I’m trying to help you get your phone back and me my money I don’t mean to sound like a dick but he got me like he got you what can we do
I’m not trying to lose out on my money

At this point I’m like, fuck. this.

Me: No, that’s fine. You keep it then. Good luck and thanks for letting me know.

Him: Can I at least get your email to unlock it because this sucks
Are you able to help so I will be able to use it
Because I have kids also and out 300 dollars that could’ve been used for them
I work everyday like a regular person I’m sorry that this all happened I live in a one bedroom with three kids and the only joy I get is working Lol and having them
It’s asking for email and password if you can help I would be grateful if not then sorry for your inconvenience
But I just lost 300 dollars
I don’t know what to do

Me: I’m sorry. I’m not in a place to be giving out any more of my personal information. My suggestion is to bring the phone to the police station and tell them who sold the phone to you.
I feel unsafe enough as it is. And my property was stolen from me. You know it’s stolen merchandise so so legally you should turn it in to the police.

Him: And lose my money I don’t even know the kid who sold it to me
But thanks

Me: I can’t help you. I’m terrified as it is. Sorry.

Him: Sorry for your loss I don’t mean to add more pressure on you
But you have to see it were I’m coming from too I bought it for a lot of money and its a loss for me too

And at THIS point, I’m just done with this asshole.

Me: Right. And you know it’s stolen. And not turning it into the police and asking me to pay for it is extortion because I own that phone and I am STILL paying it off and will have to until it’s paid. I’m sorry you lost 300 dollars but I’ve lost my sense of security.
You are legally obligated to turn that phone into the police, and maybe they can help you find the asshole who sold you a stolen phone.
I can’t help you. I’m sorry.

Him: I hopefully get my money back

And that’s where it ended. I called the police department and told them everything, gave them the guy’s facebook name, and made sure that my phone was set to lost mode with Apple so that he can’t see ANYTHING on the phone anymore. Part of me is still hopeful that I’ll get my stuff back, but at least now I know that my information is safe.
What a week!
