I'm back, and I have pictures in Day to Day

I’m back, and I’m writing an entry. I have been away in the far east for a couple of weeks, specifically visiting relatives in Taiwan. It was a good break, though not relaxing. It never is visiting relatives. However, it was fun. We managed to miss our connecting flight in Hong Kong on the way out. It wasn’t our fault. Our plane out of London was delayed because it was late arriving. We actually got to HK with a few minutes to spare, all ready to tear through the airport to make our flight, but we were told as soon as we got off the flight that the gate was closed and that we had been allocated seats on a later flight. That worked out OK. I did a bit of hocus pocus with the iPad and got a message to my father in law telling him we would be a couple of hours late, and all was well.

Whilst in Taiwan we dud the tourist things as usual. We actually went to to the south and stayed a night at a beach hotel. That was fun. There were huge waves crashing in and we weren’t allowed to swim. There was a pool however and we met a family from San Francisco to play water polo with. The boy had fun. He is pretty amazing. His Chinese is so good he can switch languages without even thinking about it. I still struggle to order breakfast on a bad day.

We did loads of shopping, and the dragon bought a new HTC phone. I want to buy a tablet, but I don’t know what I want. It’s Monday now and I am back in the office typing this when I should be clearing the backlog of crap that has landed on my desk while I was away. I’m still slightly jet lagged.

Interesting story; for the first time ever I had to explain my body piercing to the security people. It was my own fault. I walked through the scanner thing with my watch on - doh! So, they stood me on the spot and passed the hand scanner over me. This has happened a dozen times before, and never have they detected the Prince Albert. Anyway, the lady asked me what it was and I said “body piercing”. She giggled, it was over; true Story.

Here are some pictures anyway…

We slept at the aquarium and met beluga whales. They came to the window to see us.

We met thousands of friends and relatives.

A ninja artist painted the boy upside down on the beach,

And it was even a pretty good likeness when it was turned the right way up.

Weather was not so good in the second week and Taipei 101 had its head in the clouds.

We stayed at a beach resort with big waves.
