Flash!! The Unicorn... in Flash

.. is a myth. But that doesn’t stop it from being real.

According to some legend, only female virgins - the only kind that count - can see unicorns. It’s been a while since I’ve been a female virgin, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a unicorn. They’re white, aren’t they? A white horse with a long pointy horn in the middle of their forehead. Yeah, that’s right. That’s what a unicorn is.

There have been fake unicorns. Circuses glue a horn on a goat and call it a unicorn. But we know better. Female virgins or not, we are not to be fooled by a goat with a glued on horn.

So…

When I jump on the bare back of my snowy white unicorn and lean over his neck and tangle my fingers in his mane, I whisper to him. Go. Go! GO!

My voice gets louder and he gets faster. He gallops to Gallup, New Mexico, in the moonlight. We meet Buz and Tod - yes one Z and one D - and their Corvette. And I am a virgin. And still female. And the world is black and white. It is a year between 1960 and 1964 in which I was mostly a female virgin so no wonder I could see and ride a unicorn.

Note: While doing research for this piece I was told by wiki that “During World War II, the city fought successfully to prevent 800 Japanese American residents from being placed in wartime internment.” I find that special, and more interesting than mythy unicorns.

Gallop to Gallup. Heh.

Now that you mention it, I wonder why more male virgins weren't sacrificed to the gods.

I think it's related to the fact that lesbians are cute and gays less so.

That is very cool about avoiding internment.

the single letter buz and tod seem the most exceptional in an entry with virgins and unicorns and uninterred prisoners
