Sprained Ankle in Starting Over

I sprained my left ankle exercising and am so bummed. I've sprained this ankle before and it takes forever to heal. I first sprained it years ago jumping off a ladder it swelled up so much I thought I'd broken it and when I went to the doctor he told me it was just a really bad sprain but he also said, it would take a long time to really heal and he even said breaks heal faster. He was right it healed but it seemed like I could just tweak it wrong and the pain would come back and when I limped my back would start hurting.

Let's see I have a bad lower back (actually this is getting much better with all the back exercises I do but I wonder if it will ever fully go away), bad left knee (from falling down in a grocery store after slipping on a wet floor), bad left shoulder (from falling down when my dog got under my feet), plantars fascitas in my right foot (from doing an aerobics class barefoot), extremely tight neck and shoulders (so tight I get headaches and my doctor once told me he has never seen such tight muscles as I get), TMJ (I don't grind my teeth but I clench my jaw and it hurts above my ears all the time) and now my left ankle will be giving me fits again. I have learned to live with every thing and work around it. I am just grateful that nothing incapacitates me.

I am also grateful that I have a strong immune system and rarely get sick. I have a friend who catches every thing that comes around and always taking antibiotics. Now her immune system is shot and she has major health problems. I think a lot of it stems from taking so many antibiotics all her life. She says no and her doctors say no but I remember when I was young, my doctor would never give me anything when I was sick or had a small infection, he'd always say, "You're young, you're healthy, let your body fight it, if you're not better in a week, we'll give you something." And I always got better. He also told me that if he gave me antibiotics for everything then when I really needed them for something major, they might not work. I think he was right. I remember people were always telling me to get a new doctor one that would give me drugs but I never did because I believed him, it made sense to me. Now it seems times have changed, doctors write so many prescriptions. I have another friend who gets sinus infections and every time the doctor prescribes her an antibiotic she gets a reaction that is worse then the infection. Last time my daughter when to the doctor he told her her blood pressure was high and prescribed her drugs. She was 21 at the time and extremely, extremely nervous and upset so I am sure that is why her blood pressure was high. We didn't fill the prescription and I had a nurse friend take her blood pressure every day for a month when she was calm and it was always normal. Do doctors get kick backs now for prescribing drugs?

Wow, I've gotten off the subject here. Anyway, I'm icing my ankle, keeping it elevated and wrapping it up when I'm walking around. Hopefully it a day or two the swelling will go down.
