Tim and I have been juggling the idea of when to publicly announce the pregnancy. Since today is technically the first day of my second trimester, we’re both starting to feel a little more confident that things are going to go all the way this time and we can make the news public.
We have some good friends who did our wedding photos. They’re our age, the nicest couple in the world, and really did us a solid on our wedding. They were with us from 9am until 11pm and took over 800 pictures at our wedding. The amount that they charged us was a fraction of what that session typically costs for them (it’s how they both make their living) and we were very fortunate that they were so generous with their time and their skill-set.
I messaged one of them the other day and asked if they’d be interested in doing our announcement pictures. I’m really into professional pictures for events such as this and to be honest, I’m kind of a ham. I like being in front of a camera. It’s the Thespian in me. Anyway, she messaged me back and was thrilled that we’d asked them and even more happy to find out that I’m pregnant again. We set a date for next weekend, in the afternoon, at the spot where Tim and I were married. I’m so excited. We haven’t seen them in ages so I’m hoping that either before or after the shoot we can go out to lunch and catch up.
Now, we just have to come up with ideas on how to announce. I was thinking of using the chalk boards from our wedding that still say, “Mr. and Mrs.” and somehow incorporating that the baby is due 4 days after our anniversary. The baby will be the size of an apple by the time the pictures are taken so maybe something with it being apple season or something regarding an apple tree or I have no freakin idea. I’m not very creative when it comes to stuff like this… I’m really hoping that our friends are able to think of some witty adorable thing. All my husband has given me so far is meshing our faces together in a painting app like Conan O’brien used to do on his show. I have shut down this idea. -_-;;
So, I haven’t done a pregnancy update post in a while. I’m 14 weeks today! Baby is the size of a lemon and I am starting my second trimester! We have an appointment at the beginning of next week where we’ll hopefully be able to hear the heartbeat with the Doppler. Thankfully, when we went for our first trimester screening we were able to hear it with the ultrasound machine, but that was 2 weeks ago and I’m impatient. I think the next ultrasound I’ll have scheduled will be the anatomy scan and that will either be at the end of next month or the beginning of May.
Most of my first trimester symptoms have gone away. My boobs are much less sore, I’m not so bloated all the time, the nausea is practically non-existent (thank goodness) and though I’m sleeping for a long time, I’ve got a lot more energy throughout the day in general. I’m starting to feel the need to clean and organize, and I think that’s a mix between Spring coming and the nesting instinct.
I’m starting to show a little bit. I had 3 people ask me yesterday if I was pregnant, and while I know it’s in poor taste, it made me feel good to know that people are starting to notice. Being pregnant has done wonders for my self-esteem because I know that my body is doing exactly what it needs to to carry the life inside of me. I don’t feel self conscious at all. I’m excited for my baby bump and I can’t wait to show it off this summer. I’ll take a picture tomorrow and post it. Tomorrow is my “bumpie” day according to my babycenter app. I freakin love that thing, lol.
That’s all on baby for now! I think Tim and I have decided on Autumn for a girls name if it’s a girl (which I think it is). We still have no idea what we’re doing if it’s a boy. I really like Rowan.
