Like a fairy cycle (pictures) in Day to Day

It was the boy’s birthday on Saturday. We got him a new bike. He needed one. The old bike was like a fairy cycle. I spent more money than I intended to, but it’s a nice bike and it has gears. He’s not used to them, but it’s an adventure for him. I think I need to sit down with him and show him how they work.

It was also the birthday party of one of his friends, so he was lucky enough to be invited to a Laser Quest, Pizza party. Not only did he have a good time zapping friends with laser guns and stuffing his face with piza, it also gave mummy and daddy the opportunity to have a civilized lunch in a new Japanese eatery which has appeared in town. It was very nice.

I bumped into Julian Clarey, almost literally, in Sainsbury’s yesterday. He’s quite tall, and he’s put on weight. I was only sure it was him when I heard his voice. He was wearing a long coat and a slightly camp floaty scarf. He was with a woman I assume was his mother.

I want to lose a bit of weight.

This weekend the pope visited Naples, and I note that he was mobbed by over excited nuns. How cool is that. He also performed a (half) miracle by turning the congealed blood of St. Gennaro liquid. What a guy!

More than half a tonne of sanitary towels have been confiscated at Beirut airport after they were found to be highly radioactive. I think there is a pun here, but I can’t find it.

A former police officer has come forward and suggested a member of the royal family was connected with police paedophile investigation that was closed down for reasons of national security in the late 80s. That’s pretty horrifying isn’t it. No names have been mentioned and I’d suggest that means we’re not likely to hear any more about it.
