I got a round of applause in Day to Day

I seemed to have stopped writing here. I like writing. I think I am just busy. At my creative writing course this week my poem was reviewed. I was slightly annoyed because I really wanted a critique of my short story. However, I was the only one in class who got a round of applause. I have an issue with being too embarrassed to present anything I’ve written to class. I didn’t like the poem much, but I was quite pleased with the short story.

Weekend was spent in Devon, foul weather, good food, boy well behaved. Not a bad time at all. I keep hoping Spring will come soon. I walked to the station in the snow on Monday, and the bus was late. It was never going to be a good Monday. End of month to do.

The dragon seems to have picked up a parking ticket for overstaying the 3 hour free parking period at the new cinema. She took the boy there when they were on half term break. However, she bought parking tickets. And what is one supposed to do if you watch a film that goes on for more than three hours? I’ve launched an appeal, but since we don’t have the parking tickets any more, I bet we end up having to pay the fine.

Today (Friday) the junk food machine at the office gave me a free packet of crisps. This is often a sign of good things to come. I may buy a lottery ticket on the way home.

It was world book day yesterday and children all over the country took part in activities to celebrate. Many schools allowed children to come in dressed as a character from a book. Manchester schoolboy Liam Scholes (11) was sent home when he showed up as Christian Grey. I can see how this might be considered inappropriate, I really can, but come on, it’s funny and it really doesn’t matter! I think his mother has a sense of humour.

I’m also interested in the story today of Ben Mynihan who has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for stabbing three women in revenge for the fact that he was still a virgin. It’s going to be a while before he is in a position to get horizontal with a woman now isn’t it. What’s more the BBC headline manges to rub salt into the wound with the headline, “Virgin Ben Moynihan jailed for revenge attacks on women“. He must have cringed reading that.
