over the weekend my niece performed in the play at the high school called grease.
it was something she had been practicing for - for several months now.
when i saw her on stage i really could not have been so prouder.
i realized she really is a talented kid and she truly does love to sing.
turns out 75% of the kids that performed were all seniors. they gave all of those parts to them. i get it because its their last year in high school. in fact school will be over for them in less than 3 months. so that is more than half of all of the kids participating were graduating. since all of the main roles for grease were given to the seniors so all the freshman were considered “cast”. i would say maybe 15 kids were cast. she was one of them.

considering valentina has not been in chorus for over 2 years and is a freshman (9th grade) in high school i really think this is commendable and in my opinion she beat out a lot of the odds against her. tells me a lot of her talent! she is talented!! she auditioned. gone are the days of joining in. she auditioned and was selected.
yay! she is the first in my family to be apart of a play. when she was little she was selected to play mary at her moms local church for a christmas play. this is her 4th year dancing and that dance recital performance is coming up too.

so - she is the future for upcoming performances for the plays. the future of theater at the high school and who knows her future !! ithis could be very positive for her.

i had been thinking about some time to maybe get her a singing coach or have her go to like a summer theater program. even if a few of us family members split the cost in 3-4 we can send her for a few weeks. she would love it.

i do not want her to forget about her academics but i see she has talent and she enjoys this. high school can be awkward and if you do not find areas or people you like it can be difficult!

she enjoyed herself so much and you could see when the play was finally over she cried a lot on stage. i knew she was happy and could feel it. it made me very very happy. she cried a lot when we saw her. we gave her several bouquets of flowers also. i plan on asking her to sign my pamphlet from the play. i can use it for the scrap book i plan on making for her. she also cried a lot off stage too.

they all did a great job. they switched up some parts in the play and while they sang my favorite song “beauty school dropout” from grease truth be told i would have rathered frankie avalon -just saying lol

i figured i would post some black and white pictures considering hey we are back in the 60s at Rydell High.

none the less here are some photos

BTW- her Mom showed up. 2 years later and she came. i am not going to lie valentina needed this. i am glad she went. it has been 2 years since her mother visited her yet lives 20 minutes away. while i still have no respect for her for valentinas SAKE and SANITY i am glad she showed up. note she also cried about this too. i HOPE her mother does the right thing and starts becoming relevant. not FAKE but relevant. also she never even brought her a flower. JUST SAYING people. come on. could not stop to get a rose? whatever!

we brought her two bouquets for each night she performed. she is a superstar. her mom has zero grace but let me keep my mouth shut. at least she went.

also in this first picture below valentina picture wise is in the middle and her friend is on the right. below her is “danny” and nearly had a heart attack that this guy wrote to her (on her pamphlet) that night and told her she performed great and that he was proud of her. i think she thinks he is dreamy or thinks it cool that the lead part of the play thinks she did great.

lol
