Work and Love in 2015

The overnight shift was actually kind of fun, though I wouldn’t want to do it more than once a week. It’s sort of nice to be in the store without customers, and Amanda is a hoot to work with. It snowed while we were there, though. Luckily they actually pre-treated the roads, so with the exception of the mall roads, they were okay. I also had to use 71 all the way down (normally I take 71 to 562 and then to 75 which goes right by our apartment) because they’ve been closing it overnight. I don’t think they are still closing it this week, however (I have another overnight).

Also our manager, Rachel (like me !), came in around 9:30 PM specifically to bring us McDonald’s, and left around 10:15. I really do like Rachel–she seems more than just a competent manager, she genuinely seems like a good human being. I hope nothing happens down the road to change my view of her. She really does seem on top of things, and that’s something my last managers have all been lacking.

Anyway, other than Amanda and myself, 3 other people were with us, and also a contracted cleaning crew. I’m also not used to a store that has a cleaning crew. Apparently once or twice a month, we bring in a contracted overnight crew to deep clean the store (dust shelves, take fixtures apart and clean them, wipe products off, etc…) and every morning we have a janitor come in and spray the mirrors, vacuum rugs, clean any spills or other stuff, and clean the bathroom. I’ve had to do all that myself at the last 3 jobs I’ve had (Well, Chayla and Shamir also cleaned the bathroom at 7FAM, but usually I offered or had to if I wasn’t working with Chayla… I think Wendy only cleaned the bathroom once). And Farrell was pregnant nearly the whole time she worked there, so she avoided chemicals. And NOBODY cleaned the bathroom at Benetton, so that was all me. And it was always gross even though I tried to do it at least once a week (which was a chore in itself since hardly anybody ever showed up for their shifts). And Jacadi… yeah, that was all me, too.

Yesterday was a long shift on the register, noon-9 PM and Friday before that it was 3-9. It was busy yesterday, so time went by relatively quickly, but it was about 55 degrees outside and the store still had the heat on, so it was like an oven around the registers between lots of customers, machinery, and other employees. It didn’t start cooling off until 7.

~Start TMI~ Cori and I have been talking about things regarding a certain TMI entry I wrote a couple months ago (for those who read, I still really appreciate the comments left, you all are awesome). He has a doctor appointment on the 26th and he plans to bring it up and see what happens because while things are better in the sense that we’ve talked out our concerns and he is aware that it’s been frustrating me (perhaps more so than it frustrates him), things still haven’t actually gotten better as much as we try. I also went to my gynecologist and she mentioned how difficult it will be for me to get pregnant, not only because of the endometriosis (though she said things seem to be okay down there ! But we scheduled another 2 appointments to double check) but also because I have never ever had a consistent period. It could be 2 weeks or 9 months between periods, ever since my first one. I basically stopped keeping track when I was 16. Funny thing is, if it’s already going to be difficult, it’ll be even more difficult if medicine is interfering with Cori’s ability to finish :( And it’s not like he’s ever denied me, but he’s just so uninterested if I don’t initiate, and it drives me crazy. I want to feel a little pursued, you know ? In any case, maybe the doctor will have some suggestions to treat this medically induced ED. ~END TMI~

Speaking of the gynecologist, she prescribed the same birth control I’ve been on for about 6 months now, and I go to fill it at CVS and they give me something called Alecyn that is apparently the same as Necon. Unfortunately I didn’t notice this until I got home. I still have one pack of Necon left, but I can’t switch, even if they SAY it’s the same. I can’t. I’ve had terrible experiences with new pills and I literally can’t handle switching right now. I’m hoping it’s just a CVS fluke or they were out of Necon that day (though I wish they would have told me), and that my insurance isn’t the problem. I’m going to call Target/Kroger/Walgreens on Tuesday to see if they can fill Necon if for some reason CVS can’t. I compared ingredients and while the active ingredients are the same, the inactive ones aren’t. I don’t want to chance it. Who knows if it was simply an additive I had a problem with the last few times ?

Had the day off today, so I cleaned the hell out of the apartment. It needed a good scrubbing. Swept and mopped the floors, vacuumed the rug, laundered EVERYTHING, wiped stuff down for dust, cleaned the toilet, sink, and tub, and other things. Still not done, though; I may do one more load of laundry after work tomorrow. There is still a set of sheets I need to put in, plus the shower curtain liner and a couple other things. It wasn’t too cold today, either (they said we would have rain but it never did as far as I can tell) so I opened the windows to get some fresh air in (and to drown out the smell of Tilex). I still have to take down Christmas decorations, though. I started today but didn’t get far. I hate how empty everything feels after taking them down, so I’ll put it off as long as possible.
