so starting a little last night and going into today i FINALLY started watching downton abbey. i have been wanting to watch this for some time now and never got round to it.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/downtonabbey/

if anyone has been watching it or if you are interested in anything regarding victorian period mini series then - this is for you! or if you liked gosford park as i did then you would love this. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0280707/ <— gosford park the movie. btw from the first episode it reminded me of gosford park but a longer version of it.

before i get into it i wanted to say that i knew i would like this JUST from the music.
i know this sounds crazy. how can you like something just by listening to the music but it is true in this case.

apparently the series has been on since 2010 and i believe they are up to season 5 but just from the opening 2 minutes of season one show one i KNEW i would love it.
the music draws me into the period. the music at times is calm and serene. it is sad, sort of dreamy, quite romantic but also quite serious/dramatic. it is sort of happy, and hopeful. it brings out those emotions to me. i think the music is quite beautiful actually. whoever put it together has done a fantastic job in making it intriguing.

TM you were right however i liked it within the first 2 minutes. i did not have to wait until i watched the entire first season. :) i am almost done with season one and will share about it another time. i have PLENTY to say! i have to find time to watch 4 other seasons to catch up to the latest ones. how am i going to find the time for this? lol

i also took the time today to spend an hour and watch a historical pbs piece about
highclere castle in hampshire where it taped or parts of it. i was immediately drawn into the period and everything about it. i just wanted to learn about it.

so i learned quite a bit about the castle today including that it is on 5,000 preserved acres. the grounds are kept up and its quite spectacular. what a charming place to have a walk. or just to have a sit. perhaps sit in silence or even have some tea. i mean it is quite magnificent. learning about current 8th earl and that it takes at least a million dollars a year to keep the castle maintained which what is helping to pay for it is the downton abbey show, visitors, and also having weddings, events. some time ago there were up to 60 to 80 people working at this castle helping to take care of it. i am quite a dreamy kind of person but could you imagine having a ceremony or event at a place like this? i get into stuff like this.

oddly enough and rather interesting is the 8th earls great - great grandfather the 5th earl of carnarvon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Herbert,_5th_Earl_of_Carnarvon
was in fact the financier of finding the tomb of Tutankhamun along with dr. howard carter. remarkable! i have always always been fascinated with anything egyptian related and to know i had found intrigue with the stories including their store about this find and “curse” of the tomb. so now of course i would love to go here to just look is all.

i immediately looked into going to this castle in my secret desires of going to london in june 2015. who knows if i will be picked to go or not but guess what. the tickets are sold out until july!

i would love to have afternoon tea here.

in any case i am quite sure i will have more to write about this series but i will leave it off with the opening music that drew me into watch it more. you tell me if you like it as well.
