So I played mommy for a little over a month. The investigation was unfounded and Cass went back to Ms Scott on February 5th or 6th. A few weeks later I got a check in the mail for 600 some odd dollars. I was not expecting that, but it helped. It basically covered my expenses plus about a hundred for my time I guess you could say.
On the work front.....On February 14th I officially started as a Goodwill primary, so almost no more DOL calls. YAY. I’ve been much happier taking Goodwill calls, its just so much simpler. I was getting seriously burnt out on DOL. So my new work schedule is Thursday through Sunday, 2pm to 9pm except Sunday is 12:30pm to 7pm. I LOVE this schedule. OMG. It is awesome. It is just so much more relaxed in the evenings and on weekends. It is just so much more my speed. Sometimes the call volume gets high and I also am in charge of responding to emails and zendesk messages so it gets hectic at my desk, but the environment is still laid back, you know?
Right about the time that Cass went back to Ms Scott, I started working extra days/hours to help with a 10 week contract with OCFS (Office of Children and Family Services). That was busy. mostly 6 day weeks for a month and a half. The money was good though. I’m not complaining about that. Its a change to go back to my little 25 hour per week checks. Its enough though. Things are tight, but its enough. I couldn’t handle the 6 days a week schedule and full time school for very long without loosing my sanity, so its really fine.
The only down side to my new schedule is that I can’t take Cass on the weekends anymore basically. That sucks. I still see her though. We’ve spent a few Saturday mornings together, we pick her up at like 9 and then she is with us until I go to work at 2:30ish. So its a nice chunk of time, just not the same as having her all weekend.
I do have her this weekend though. I took off work tonight so that she could be dropped off by the school bus at my house at 4pm. Mommy and Tommy will watch her tomorrow and Sunday while I’m at work. Then the school bus will pick her up on Monday morning. This is happening because her caregiver wanted to go to Atlanta I think with her sister. That’s perfectly fine by me. I was able to get the day off today and it works out for us. Not an ever week thing though. Mommy and Tommy can’t handle that. But Ms Scott deserves a break, especially since she doesn’t get a break every weekend anymore.
So yeah. My little person is sitting at the table right now with her container of markers and some magazine pages. I’ve got Pandora playing because she likes music.
I got an A- in Human Geography so that’s cool. It was a condensed course so it only lasted half of a semester even though it was still a full 3 credits. I missed too many assignments in Emotional Health, so I’ll only be getting a D in that. Sucks, but whatever. Its life. I was working so damn much for a while, so yeah. I’ll be getting a B or B+ in Survey of Mathematics and I’m doing pretty damn good in College Composition, that’s the one class that I am not taking online this semester. I got an 85 on my revision of my first paper and I’ll get my second paper back on Monday. I know I’ve got the participation points in, I actually really enjoy class. The final assignment is a research paper and presentation, the presentation will be on the last day of class, May 11th.
