So I’ve got this temp law firm library gig that pays okay and it’s only two days a week which blows. But the work itself is rather simple, easy, and independent which I also love. Sometimes you just want to do work, get shit done, and turn on a podcast. Rarely anyone bothers me and most of my interactions are online or via email. Piece of Law Cake.
I realized I haven’t updated in a while and I wanted to make sure I keep this thing as updated as I possibly and humanly can.
I’ve got some more interviews lined up for the next few days and keeping busy applying to things on almost all platforms on a weekly basis. So far I’ve hit several second round stages with some jobs, some worked out and I said no, some didn’t and I was fine with that. My objective has changed. I want to be a public librarian but perhaps not right now. I want to make money. I want to have a savings and I can’t do that with a public library salary in California. Not right now at least. Some people in the library world say that it isn’t exactly easy getting a full time library gig right out of grad school, but others say you need to put your time in (volunteer/ work pt) and I just can’t afford to do that. Novio made me realize that I can’t take people’s word for fact and that I need to find out if that’s the case for myself. I also figured if I really want to work at a public library it might do me some good to volunteer a few hours a week to just get my foot in the door. In any capacity. But it all depends. My relationships, my free time, and my alone time are very important aspects of my life and if I let trying to race to the top of this professional ladder take over my life than I’ll end up hating this struggle. Who knows what will happen in the next few weeks. Perhaps I’ll get job offers, perhaps I won’t get any offers.
There are so many things in the works that it’s hard to keep track of who is calling me and what job I applied for :P I guess there could be worse problems.
Future adventures
1. second interview with Sapphire VC firm is tomorrow! Fingers crossed for this one because its a full-time gig, lots of room to grow, and I like the people (hate the commute)
2. I signed up to tutor on Wyzant and Care.com and I am waiting for my approval for TaskRabbit so I can start doing that on the side as well
3. I have dinner this week with a few librarians I met at an event I went to in Oakland last week. It should be interesting!
4. Novio is going to Houston for work this weekend so I will miss him but my goal is to finish reading this book “The $100 Startup” because I have some ideas for a startup company I want to run.
5. I’m not entirely sure if I want to seek a business partner for my idea!
Lots of ideas. Who knows what will pan out. ONLY TIME WILL TELL!!
<3 mucho amor.
