Doris and I left here last Friday at 3 pm and without pushing we were checked in to our Hotel by 5:30 just in time for High Tea. Since we would be eating in 2 hours we just each split a Chocolate Chip Cookie. We set out at 7 pm to go to the restaurant and arrived without incident.
We were greeted immediately and seated. The dinning room was 70 % full. Most of the others were in the 60-70s and very well dressed. It is a quiet room and Doris and I had no problems in conversing . The women were a mixture of pearls and diamonds and the men Suits to Sport jackets. There was only one man without a jacket and he was a boy toy for an elderly bon vivant.
This room is whimsically decorated and the walls were adorned with framed portraits of cats and dogs dressed as humans. I have seen the paintings before but cannot place the Artist.
Our wait person was extremely knowledgeable and guided us through the menu. I immediately saw a favorite, chicken Breast stuffed with Vegetables with a sauce. Doris wavered between a broiled Bay scallop and beef filets crusted until the Wait Person pointed out she could order both, as on the menus for those two dishes they offer half plates. Doris was so happy and we began with her having a salad and I had Winter Squash Soup with Chipotle flavoring. Both were divine though my mouth filled with a lot of heat.
Everything came together to give us one of the most exquisite dinners I ever have had the pleasure of eating. This was Five Star Food both in the preparation and the service. and we already are looking for a time to return.
The restaurant is within a restored Inn in Wilmington De. Inn at Moncharin. It is truly historic as well as scenic. The woodsy area is pitch black at night and while we were driving I managed to get Doris by warning here never to leave the car if there is a breakdown because of Grizzle Bears.
Back to our Hotel that was more of an Inn than a Hotel we say around the fireplace with some of the other guests. Couples were there from Ohio, Indiana, Del, NJ and NY. We retired to our room about 11 pm to see if there were sny mints on out pillows.
